Now, this is where you can join more than one source to create the audience you wish with pretty much any attribute you can think of. Say for example you wish to create an audience made up of women who are likely to buy a phone in the next 3 months. You already have data regarding phone purchase intent and in this source section, you will be able to add another seed, based on the question about gender. Please note that you always need to build a seed before you can use it as a source when you are creating an audience.
If you wish to add a new seed, you will be asked to select the source your seed is based on (file upload, Amazon S3, UserReport survey), and then to add the seed. In this case, since we want to build an audience made up of women, we will select the seed called “Gender”. To proceed, please click on “Save”.
The next step is to choose what kind of join you want from these two sources. This means you will decide how you want to combine the two sets of data into one. In other words, you will decide who you want and do not want in your audience. If there is an overlap between them, it means that some device IDs appear in both datasets.
The system will choose “Full outer” by default as you can see here.
This means it will join all data and keep everyone from both “Phone Purchase Intent UK” and “Gender”.
If you would like to choose another type of join between the two sources, click on “Full outer”. This will lead you to a page, where you can select any of the six types of join. You can also navigate through the six types of join to learn exactly what data your audience will keep.
The pre-set “Full outer” option means you are choosing to include everyone from both the Phone Purchase Intent UK and Gender seed. You will find other options, such as the “Inner”, where you instead only keep those who are in both the Phone Purchase Intent UK and Gender seed.
After selecting your preferred type of join, click “Save”. It will take around 3 minutes to recalculate your audience size.
